Can I apply to take part in the assembly?
Assembly members were selected using a process called a ‘civic lottery’. This ensures that together they are representative of the UK population as a whole. Read about how this works.
Because assembly members were selected in this way, it is not possible to apply to take part. You can however still experience key parts of the assembly. We will publish all briefing materials created for assembly members on this website. We will also live stream the evidence sessions from the assembly - just go to the homepage of the website to watch.
Can I speak at / give evidence to the assembly?
Organisations and individuals cannot apply to be a speaker at the assembly. Speakers are suggested by the Expert Leads, considered by the Advisory Panel, and signed off by Parliament. This process is important to ensure that the evidence assembly members hear is balanced, accurate and comprehensive.
Can I join the assembly’s advisory or academic panels?
Can I observe the assembly weekends?
Places to observe at the assembly in-person are very limited and will therefore be invite-only. You will however be able to observe the evidence sessions from the assembly, as we are going to live stream them online (details of how to watch will be posted here once they are confirmed). After the assembly weekends, recordings of these sessions will also be available on this website.
How do I sign up to stay in touch?
Can I evaluate the assembly or include it as part of my research?
Parliament has appointed Dr Stephen Elstub (Newcastle University) and Professor David Farrell (University College Dublin) to evaluate the assembly. We will also make anonymised data from the assembly available to researchers conducting relevant work. Read more about the research and evaluation process of Climate Assembly UK here. We are not able to accept requests to collect additional data, to speak to participants / parliamentarians / team members, or to observe the assembly.
